XS Latin retained its title at the 2006 British National Championships in Blackpool.
The competition promised to be an enthralling one. The Kent Latin Team had built on their 2005 national performance with a strong outing at the 2006 British Open. Fever Latin Team, who did not compete at the 2006 Open, now had Michael Stylianos on board as a coach. Stylianos experienced success with the South of England Latin team, coaching them to national titles in 1999 and 2000. This, intriguingly, meant that all competing teams had coaches who had trained victorious teams in previous national championships.
XS, who danced their Song of South America routine, were delighted to retain the title. Despite dancing a performance which the coaches felt was below the level of recent training, they did enough to win the championship. But there’s no time off for celebration as the team is busy preparing for two forthcoming international competitions. On the 2nd December, the team will be representing England in its 5th World Championships, which this year is being held in Bremen, Germany. This is quickly followed by an invitation formation match in Vienna on the 16th December.
Many thanks to all our dancers and supporters and good luck for the coming competitions!
