After Night Fever and Priscilla, XS Latin sought a departure from the disco based routines of 2008 – 2011. And so the team’s first rock themed routine was born. Bat Out Of Hell was XS Latin A Team’s 10th routine and a celebration of the dramatic and highly theatrical music of Meatloaf.

That there will be no Dancesport Latin Training on the 15th December as XS Latin will be travelling to Vienna very early on the 16th to compete in the annual Danube Cup. Therefore, there will be no DLT on the 15th, 22nd, or 29th December. The class will resume again on the 5th Jan.

Seven teams travelled to Blackpool to compete in the 2011 British National Formation Championship. XS Latin A team were very excited to support their B team colleagues who put on a crisp show full of excellent patterns to open the semi-final with their competitive debut.

The UK Formation Championships is a historic competition which has, for many years, not been held. Thanks to Philip Wylie, the Championships were reinstated in June 2011 and competitions were held for Juvenile, Junior and Adult formation teams at the wonderful Tower Ballroom in Blackpool.

Twelve teams, including representatives from China, Germany and the USA, came to Blackpool to contest the 2011 British Open Latin Formation Championship, making it the biggest British Open formation competition for over 20 years. Six teams were recalled to the final and XS Latin, after dancing a superb final, were pleased to finish in fourth place, making them the highest ranking European team in the competition.

Taking its inspiration from the Kander and Ebb musical, XS Latin B Team’s first routine was Cabaret. Featuring standards such as Money, Money, Maybe This Time, Mein Herr and the classic title track, the routine aimed to evoke a feel of the Broadway musical and the Oscar winning film starring Liza Minnelli.
