XS Latin A and B teams travelled to Vienna for the annual Danube Cup on 17th December 2011. The first division had an entry of 13 teams, including the recent World Championship finalists Zwölfwaxing A team, the German first division team Backnang A team and XS Latin A team. The second division had an entry of 11 teams and was XS Latin B team’s first international competition.
After good first rounds and semi finals, XS Latin was delighted that both its teams made their respective finals. The A team danced an excellent semi final to ensure its place in the prestigious first division final for the second year running. Unfortunately, the final was to prove tough at the end of a long season and the team finished in 6th place. The title was taken by the hosts HSV Zwölfwaxing A team, dancing their Falco routine. Schwartz Gold A team, from Austria, finished in second place with their Siamo Noi programme. The bronze medal went to Backnang A team, dancing their Rolling Stones themed choreography.
The B team far surpassed expectations and danced a performance showing maturity beyond its sixth months together to make the second division final. The team were clearly thrilled to dance in their first international final, offering a most enjoyable performance to finish in sixth place. The competition was won by HSV Zwölfwaxing B team, dancing their Queen routine, with Savaria, from Hungary, finishing as the runners up.
Both teams would like to thank their supporters, who flew to Vienna to cheer them on, and their sponsors, Capezio.

Well done everyone, especially to the B team!! I’m sure the A team will come back stronger for their next comp and the B team will rise to higher heights – am looking forward to it!
