Successful casting session for the 2013 season

Undeterred by the snowy weather, over 40 dancers attended the XS 2013 casting session held on Monday 14th January at Milton Community Centre. Dancers ranged from complete beginners to experienced competitors, having heard about XS through the team’s latest advertising campaign, which included appearances by XS members in the local paper and on the radio.

The session began with XS coach, David Mallabone, teaching a short jive section from the brand new (and as yet secret!) XS B team routine. Following this, a more challenging section of paso doble, taken from the A team’s Bat Out of Hell programme, was taught.

David was thrilled to have so many new, enthusiastic dancers in attendance. However, conscious that only 16 couples can compete with XS A and B, and reluctant to turn away keen new recruits, XS is now seriously working towards the creation of a C team. The C team would be aimed at those with less competition experience and provide a brilliant introduction to formation dancing for beginners. This would give people a chance of competing and developing their own dancing in preparation for joining the B and A teams in the future.

If you would like to join any of XS Latin’s teams but were unable to attend the casting session then please email contact@xslatin.org as soon as possible to arrange an opportunity to be part of the club. We would be delighted to hear from you. We are particularly looking for new beginners and novice dancers who are excited about the opportunity to be a founder member of a brand new XS Latin C team.
