XS Latin retains its UK Adult Formation Championship title

Although five teams were scheduled to perform in the UK Adult Formation Championships 2012, only two teams arrived to compete. Despite the disappointment of three teams not appearing, the competition provided an excellent opportunity for XS Latin A and B teams to perform Bat Out Of Hell and Cabaret in front of an appreciative audience.

This year’s event was held at Watford Colosseum on 24th June 2012.  The refurbished venue was excellent for formation, with a balcony from which the audience could clearly view the patterns, good acoustics and an excellent floor.

The morning events consisted of junior and juvenile 4 couple and 6-8 couple events. Starlite Heroes Junior 4-couple Team, trained by Jayne Shutlar, gave a dynamic performance of their ‘Heroes’ routine to deservedly place first. The Junior 6-8 couple event was won by Dance With Passion Viva Elvis, from Preston, trained by Jason and Shemayne Parkinson.  Dance With Passion also won the juvenile 4 couple championship with Ystrad Fawr winning the juvenile 6-8 couple event.

The adult championship was held in the afternoon. Both XS Latin A and B teams gave cleaner and sharper performances than they had done only three weeks previously at the British Open Championships.  XS Latin A team retained its UK Championship title, with XS Latin B placing second. Both teams are now looking forward to the winter season.

XS would like to thank the competition organiser, Philip Wylie, for running the UK Formation Championships for the second time and encouraging formation competition within Great Britain.  In addition the team would like to thank  its supporters and its sponsors, Capezio, for all their backing.
