XS travelled to Bremerhaven this weekend for the 2007 Latin Formation Dance World Championships. The level of competition was very high and XS was very pleased to be placed 15th out of 22.
The two German teams — the hosts, Bremerhaven, and last year’s champions, Bremen — tied for first place, while the Lithuanians were placed third.

What better way to celebrate 10 years of XS Latin than to have party — and dance?! As well as dancing, the anniversary event included a host of photos, videos and costumes from all previous routines, and appearances by many of the team’s former members, coaches and friends. Holding back the tears, David Mallabone gave the speeches, handed out the awards and presented the masterly-produced 10-year anniversary video.
Thanks to every who helped with the event and everyone involved in making XS such a success over the past 10 years.

To show off their new routine, XS journeyed to Düsseldorf to compete, for the first time, in the European Latin Formation Championships. The top teams from across Europe compete at this event and the standard was incredibly high. Despite a remarkable performance, particularly given the routine is so new, XS did not receive enough recalls into the semi final. Bremen, the reigning world champions, took first place.

The first training session for XS Latin this year saw the commencement of training on a new routine, entitled On Broadway. The new routine takes its inspiration from musicals of Broadway and the West End, and the music includes snippets of songs such as Big Spender, Whatever Lola Wants and Aquarius. The first competitive performance of the new routine is scheduled for the European Championships in May, which gives the team less time than they’ve ever had before to learn and refine the six minutes of choreography.
