Ten teams competed at the 2014 British National Championship in Blackpool, held on Thursday 20th November. This entry was the highest for the competition in living memory and promised a good Championship.
This was to be the final performance of XS B’s Blues Brothers routine in the UK, and they danced an excellent semi-final, which showed that their hard work to improve their consistency had paid off. They were thrilled to make the final for the first time in two years. Performing last in the final, their excitement and enjoyment were obvious.
XS A were pleased with their calm and confident performance of their The Girl from Tiger Bay routine, which several audience members felt was the team’s strongest yet. However, whilst finishing as the top English team they were disappointed to lose the British National Championships title, finishing in second place to Ystrad Fawr from Wales. Congratulations to them for winning the title for the first time.
Several XS A team couples also competed in the Amateur Latin event on Saturday 22nd. Kenneith Yong and his partner, XS alumna Olesya Nikiforova, were thrilled to place 30th in Britain, their highest ever placing. Congratulations to them on their success.
The team would like to thank sponsors, Capezio, for all of their support.
