For the final competition of 2014, XS Latin visited Vienna, Austria for the prestigious Danube Cup 2014. Seventeen teams from four different countries were entered into the competition which was, as it has been for the last four years, separated into a first and second division competition.
XS Latin B team competed in the second division and was dancing its Blues Brothers routine for the last time in competition. The team danced a sound semi-final and were pleased to qualify for the final. In the final, however, the team surpassed themselves and danced close to their strongest ever competitive performance. The team were delighted to place fourth in the final, behind strong competition from Austrian and German teams.
The first division competition included European Championship finalists SG Wien A Team and World Championship finalists HSV Zwolfaxing A Team, amongst others. XS Latin A team danced a safe first round and then a very strong final, probably the cleanest competitive performance thus far of its The Girl from Tiger Bay routine, and were thrilled to finish in third place behind the two top teams from Austria, their best ever placing in six appearances at the Danube Cup.
Once again, the Danube Cup was a very well organised and friendly event and XS Latin would like to thank the organisers for their continued work in supporting formation dancing. In particular, the spectators at the event were most appreciative of all the teams that had come to compete and the atmosphere at the competition was wonderful.
Both XS teams were very pleased with the end to the 2014 season and look forward to the challenges that 2015 will bring. In particular, the B team is looking forward to start its brand new routine.
The club would like to thank its supporters and Capezio Europe for their continued support. Please Log in to view this content.
