XS UK Adult Formation Champions for fourth year running

XS Latin always enjoys closing the summer season with the friendly atmosphere at the UK Formation Championships and this year was no exception. Particular thanks must go to Mark & Jayne Shutlar and Jason & Shemayne Parkinson for taking on the organisation for this year’s event at a very late stage but doing a great job of creating a well-organised and atmospheric competition.

The venue for the 2014 UK Championships was the beautiful Kings Hall in Stoke-on-Trent. An ideal location for a formation event, the hall has a balcony on three sides, which makes it excellent for viewing the patterns and fast changes created by good formation teams.

After some wonderful dancing from the juvenile and junior teams, the Adult Championship concluded the day’s proceedings. It was great to see a new adult team, from Starlite dance school, at the competition. This team put on a very good show for their first adult competitive outing. The XS Latin teams had been plagued by illness and injury in the weeks running up to the competition but rose to the challenge with typical energy and team spirit. Of particular note was the superb performance of the A team’s Diane Williams, dancing a brand new position with a new partner, Joseph Roffey, on the day of the competition due to the injuries to other team members.

XS Latin A team were delighted to take the UK Championship for the fourth year in succession, while XS Latin B took the runners-up spot. The club would like to thank all those who supported the team on the day and Capezio Europe for their continued sponsorship.
