In their final competition of an intense 2010 season, XS Latin travelled to Perchtoldsdorf in Austria to compete in the Donaupokal Formation International. Nineteen teams from across Europe entered the competitions and, after dancing their best performance of the year, XS were delighted to finish in fourth place in the Donaupokal Cup. This represents the team’s best result overseas and sets them in good stead as they prepare for the 2011 season.

The 2010 British National Formation Championship, held in Blackpool, was the biggest national formation competition in many people’s memory, with 7 teams competing for the title. After a semi-final and an exciting final, XS emerged triumphant to become 2010 British National Champions, with nine of the 11 judges marking them in first place.

XS Latin Junior team is delighted to welcome Matt Scales on board as its new Head Coach. Matt has been trained by the Lait School of Dance and will be taking over the reigns of Junior Head Coach from Bruce. Matt is very much looking forward to his new role with the team.
The 2010 World Formation Championships proved to be a very exciting event. After never placing in the top 3 at a world championships, the hosts, Russia, won the gold medal. Vera, dancing Ever Shining Star, their tribute to Michael Jackson, took the top spot with a majority of second places. Zuvedra, Lithuania, danced a beautiful final to take the silver medal, while the title holders, GGC Bremen, debuted their new routine, Genesis, to take the bronze.

A trip to the theatre in London in Autumn 2009 for several members of the team, which resulted in one member enthusiastically taking to the stage (and struggling to find his way off!), provided the inspiration for XS Latin’s 9th routine, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Less than a month after making their first final XS Juniors have started work on a new routine. The team have begun to work on Night Fever, the routine which brought the adult team its third British National title.
The juniors are very excited to be working on this challenging routine and hope to debut it in the beginning of 2011.
XS Latin have qualified to represent England at the World Latin Formation Championships (to be held in Moscow in October) after performing their new Priscilla, Queen of the Desert routine for the first time at the British Open Championships.

After Hairspray, the XS Juniors were looking for a new and exciting challenge and so the coaches decided to give them the routine with which XS Latin adult team had won its third British National title in 2008 – Night Fever.
The routine, featuring songs like You Should Be Dancing, Staying Alive and How Deep Is Your Love, had proved very popular with the adult team and its supporters and so the juniors decided to rise to the challenge! Wearing blue dresses with black fringing, the team debuted the routine at the 2011 British Junior Championships.

XS Latin Junior team was delighted to make its first final at the weekend. Competing in the annual FTA Competition, this year held in Reading, the team produced a performance that was far cleaner than the one given at Blackpool less than a fortnight ago and beat several teams who had placed higher than them at the Junior British. XS Juniors were delighted to make the final of the competition, placing in an extremely creditable 7th place.
